The foldable bunk/loft bed AMBERintheSKY is part of a new range of wood and loden fabric children's furniture from Austrian furniture makers Perludi. The original and appealing design of the furniture results from the use of plywood for the structural elements combined with a flexible yet highly durable loden fabric covering.

The playful yet practical design of the new bed sets new standards in several areas: It can be easily assembled by one person: The loden: a heavy, wear-resistant fleece fabric made from wool: is simply stretched over the plywood components to act as a joining element and making the units exceptionally stable with no need for glue or dowels.

The lower platform, which is positioned almost at ground level, can act as a play or "nest" area.
With the simple addition of a mattress it can be quickly turned into a second bed.
Despite the ample headroom of the lower bunk, the bed's overall height is only about 135 cm, making it the ideal choice for rooms with low ceilings as well as reducing the risk of injury should the child fall out of the upper bunk. For parents, the low height takes the strain out of making the bed or for the goodnight kiss.

AMBERintheSKY is made from a newly developed composite material consisting of European birch wood and Austrian loden fabric - an unusual and innovative combination of materials for a completely new approach to furniture design. Using the latest CNC technology, all components are precision cut in a single operation from a board. Firmly connected by the fleece layer at their edges, the elements can be simply folded into their assembled shape.

The birch plywood is sourced exclusively within Europe and the fabric is supplied by Austrian loden specialists Steiner. As well as being exceptionally wear-resistant, loden has numerous properties that make it an ideal choice for this application:

Wool readily adapts to its environmental conditions, especially the room climate. Its surface feels warm in winter and cool in summer ("cool wool") and it is capable of absorbing a large amount of moisture before it feels damp.

Conveying a sense of familiarity and security, it is ideally suited for children's rooms. Processed into loden, wool has inherent self-cleansing properties and is also water-resistant. The bed's surfaces can be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner, a damp cloth or a soft brush and unlike many other textiles retain their original character for a long time.
